The 2007 Southeastern Ohio ride went very well.  We had a good mix of bikes and another perfect day.  The restaurant could not have been better.  For 2008 the route will be exactly the same.  The feedback was 100% positive on the route.

When:
 Saturday August 9th 2008,    9:15  AM,

What to expect:  A nice ride through some very scenic and even somewhat challenging roads.  A great time and a chance to meet old friends and make a few new ones.  Single riders are welcome (Male and Female), you will find this to be a very social ride and group.  Do not worry about coming alone and not knowing anyone, that will change pretty quickly.  There is very little traffic on these roads when we do this ride.

All bikes are welcome, Teresa does ride in the back with a radio so everyone can ride at their own pace.

There are also several clubs and many individuals that participate, so you will most likely see quite a few of all different bikes.

We do go across the bridge into West Virginia for lunch, so helmets are required for this portion of the ride.

Where:  Starting at  9:15 AM from the parking lot of the Best Western.  4929 East Pike Zanesville, OH    (740) 453-6300  I-70 exit 160.  Map to Best Western.
We will be ending up back at the Best Western also.

Be gassed up and ready to go by 9:00, short meeting at 9:05 and leaving promptly at 9:15We are expecting to be back at the Best Western around 5:30 PM.

Description:  Leisurely ride from Zanesville going East, through scenic back roads at times following a few rivers and lakes, Wayne National Forest and along the Ohio River.  Ending up in New Martinsville, WV for lunch at the Court Restaurant.  The Court Restaurant has a home made lunch buffet (with home made deserts) for $8.95, you can also get just the salad bar, or you can order a plate meal.  We have people doing this ride now just to go to the restaurant.  We will have a private area set aside for our group, the owners look forward to seeing us each year with all of the bikes.  From there we will ride South along the Ohio River, then West into the National Forest on 260.  Everyone is encouraged to only ride at their own pace through the curves.  Then route 26 through the forest to the North side of Marietta, we will stop at a covered bridge on route 26 to give everyone a little break.  After taking a bypass on the north side of Marietta, we will then take route 60 up along the Muskingum River all the way back to Zanesville.  Planned stops in this portion, Gas Stop and Muskingum River locks.  There is very little traffic on these roads on Saturday, making this a very enjoyable ride.

This will be a 217 mile (total) ride.  We will make appropriate gas and rest stops.  There will be plenty of time for socializing.  This is a good opportunity to take a nice ride, meet some new people, and possibly get away for a couple of days.  Everyone is welcome, no matter what you ride.  There will be door prizes to be given away.
If you only want to do the portion of the ride in the morning to the restaurant or the second half of the ride from the restaurant back, that is fine.  If you are only going to do the second half, let us know ahead of time so we can include you in the head count that we give the restaurant that morning.  We will be at the restaurant at approximately noon.

Food:
There are a couple restaurants, fast food & Diner very close to the motel.  There are a lot more several miles down the road in town.

Motel:  If you need a motel room for Friday or Saturday or both nights,  we have reserved rooms at the Best Western.  4929 East Pike, Zanesville, OH    (740) 453-6300.  Very nice rooms and some good parking lot socializing.  You must give them the reservation number # B508#2 Wiles, when making reservations.  You will need to give them a credit card number to hold your room for you.

The rooms are $64.99 plus tax a night, (one King size bed, if you need 2 Queen's let them know) up to 4 persons per room).  If you need a smoking room you will need to tell them when making reservations.  Please book early if you are planning on going, the motel is pretty much full already.  Mention Group rate, # B508#2 Wiles, for the group discount.  The motel does have an indoor pool, internet and a continental breakfast.  They will have a hose outdoors to wash bikes as well as rags.  They are very accommodating for bikes.  You must make the reservations by 7/25/08 to get this rate.

If you want something a little cheaper or if the Best Western is full,  try the America's Best Value Inn (740) 453-6002, which is directly behind the Best Western.  The America's Best Value Inn is not quite as nice, but cheaper.
Baker's Motel is also available.  Baker's Motel is straight  East down the road approximately 4 miles and is $55 per night plus tax.  It is not as nice as the Best Western, but it will do.  (740) 872-32328855 East Pike,  Norwich, OH.

Contact:  Teresa or Rick from Value-Accessories with any questions.  Give us an email or call to let us know if you are going on the ride or are interested in riding down with us.  We can better plan if we know the approximate number of people.  Everyone is welcome, we have had just about every type and brand of bike on this ride the last couple of years.

Friday Night:  We will be riding down from Lake County Ohio Friday afternoon.  We have eaten at the Denny's Diner across from the Best Western on Friday night the last several years that we have done this ride.  We will be going over to the Diner about 9 PM or so for anyone interested in meeting on Friday night.  If you will already be at the Best Western on Friday night, just look for everyone between 8:30 and 9:00 PM out front.  Just about everyone that has stayed Saturday night the last few years has also gone back over to the Diner on Saturday night after the ride.

Sunday Morning:  For anyone that is interested and also going back up to NE Ohio on Sunday morning, we will be having a nice country ride back up through Amish country and stopping for lunch at a steak house south of Akron.  Leaving on Sunday morning at 9:00 AM.

None of the groups participating in this ride are liable for any accidents or injuries that you may incur.  Please ride safely and at your own risk.
